2024-25 sheSTRENGTH Internship

NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS for Summer 2024

 

Overview

An internship at sheSTRENGTH will present you with the opportunity to experience hands-on, individualized coaching with clients each day. Each intern will have the chance to coach a variety of clients of all different ages/abilities, to improve their performance. Interns will also become more familiar with the intricacies of program design, online training, marketing, and running a business. Interns have the possibility to earn payment after the first 30-45 days and a positive employee/intern review. Commission can also be earned through the interns business plan and execution of their business plan.

Expectations over the Course of Internship

  • Work a minimum of 5 hours per week
  • Duration of internship: June-August 2024
  • Be competent teaching dynamic warm-up, foam rolling, and corrective exercises
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the movement assessment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of training techniques/cueing
  • Demonstrate knowledge of training templates and program design
  • Demonstrate knowledge of online training, use of social media for marketing
  • Be eager to learn and accepting of constructive criticism
  • Be comfortable interacting with athletes and parents, people with special needs
  • Present yourself in a manner that will reinforce your status as someone representing sheSTRENGTH/heStrength its culture and message
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to all scheduled shifts
  • Complete daily assigned cleaning tasks
  • Answer messages in a professional manner
  • Display knowledge on all services offered
  • Display knowledge of all client policies

Explanation of Selected Responsibilities

Hour Minimum

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 5 hours per week during training hours (satellite and in-person): Inability to do so will necessitate a removal from the intern program. All requests for time off must be submitted to Management 2 weeks prior to the time requested.

Duration of Internship

Interns will be expected to remain with sheSTRENGTH for the times listed above unless otherwise noted or recommended by Management. Instances in which this is not possible should first be cleared and thoroughly discussed with Management.

Warm-Up

Interns will need to familiarize themselves with all warm-up, foam rolling, and corrective exercise and dynamic movement’s, and be able to lead all athletes through their prescribed warm-up (either in a group or individually).

Movement Assessment

Interns will be expected to learn the Movement Assessment protocol. This includes learning the order of each exercise as well as understanding why each exercise is used and what they indicate for an athlete. Interns should also be able to connect deficiencies in the movement assessment to performance limitations with an athlete.

Training Techniques

Interns will be expected to show competency in teaching all common training techniques at sheSTRENGTH. Among those areas are: Olympic Lifting, Speed and Agility drills, TRX training, Strength Training (squatting, hip hinging, pressing, pulling, uniliateral variations), Metabolic Conditioning, Core Training, Medicine Ball throws, and CrossFit-style movements, and others.

Training Templates

Clients and athletes at sheSTRENGTH/heStrength train in a specific training system, and interns will be expected to learn their order and importance and the reasoning for these decisions.

Athlete Interaction

Interns must be able to interact with all clients (athletes and parents included) in a professional and courteous manner. This includes but is not limited to introducing themselves to all new clients, going out of their way to greet clients as they enter within 5 seconds, and saying goodbye to any clients exiting the facility.

Role Model

Interns will be working with people of all ages, abilities, cognitive abilities, etc., and all conversation should be mindful of maintaining status as a role model and that continues the culture of sheSTRENGTH. Conversations and mention of adult topics should be held outside of the training time.

Interns should arrive to all scheduled training times at least 15 minutes early unless otherwise approved by management.

Cleaning Tasks

Interns will be expected to complete a daily list of cleaning tasks outlined in the daily cleaning completion chart. These tasks are to be completed during down time of a session, at the end of a shift, or at the discretion of the manager on duty. The completion of all cleaning tasks should be cleared by the manager on duty at the end of the training period (morning or evening).

Phone Calls/Social Media Response/App Messaging

Interns will be expected to be able to answer the messages when necessary and to do so in a professional manner. Interns should be comfortable taking messages, referring clients to the appropriate person/video or person on sheSTRENGTH fitness staff, and completing prospect information sheets.

Knowledge of Services Offered

Interns will be expected to know the services offered by sheSTRENGTH. Interns should have a reasonable knowledge of different training packages and prices.

Knowledge of Client Policies

Interns will be expected to know the standard client policies that all clients must agree to at the start of their membership. Interns will be expected to be able to answer questions from both clients and staff members regarding all client policies.
