Blue Dragon Softball 2021

2020-2021 marked the first year of my role as Assistant Softball Coach for the lady Blue Dragons at Hutchinson CC. I spent my hours each week leading the young women through workouts to help build strength, prevent injury, and hopefully find a way to fall in love with fitness as a part of life after sports.

What I didn't see coming was becoming a part of these young women's lives who loved on my kids, who my kids adored, making long-lasting friendships, getting to know these gals on a personal level, spending late nights or weekends up chatting with 1 or 2 gals in my barn gym about anything and everything, texting during tough times and during times of celebration.

That year was a crazy first year with Covid, changing schedules, no fall season, limitations on practice times and sizes, experimenting with workout options for wearing masks while working out, quarantining multiple times, coaches and athletes recovering from Covid and reintroducing exercise back into daily schedules, trying to keep athletes healthy over a long 7-week Christmas break. WOW!I had to constantly change and be changing our workout plans from day to day, hour to hour. We relied a lot on my sheSTRENGTH app for workout's for the ladies to do on their own time, with limited equipment while on break or while in quarantine. But the girl's never complained, they worked hard, no matter what I asked them to do, or adapt to do. They made sacrifices so we could play, so we stayed healthy, and for the betterment of the team. Because that's the culture we have created as a team at HCC, through the addition of sport-specific fitness programming, weekly mindset groups, and veteran head coaches leading the way through many years' experience......I feel like we are only just beginning in our pursuits of growing this team's success in the coming years. So keep an eye out...#rolldragzHere's just a small glimpse of the work these ladies put in, under my watch. Not to mention all the hours the ladies' put in off the grid this summer, so we can kick off the fall 2021 season stronger than ever.
